Afraid

Everything's made to be broken
But nothing more so than a heart
'Cause all I've learned from falling in love
Is how to fall apart
It may well be a fine moment
If someday I lay in your arms
But I'd rather not even try it
I don't wish to do your heart harm
And though I truly long for
The love I felt last spring
I don't want to get broken again
What kind of fate would it bring?
So if you're done, love
Done with my heart for now
I'll step down from your limelight
And take my final bow
I refuse to break another heart
Or bring us both to tears
I know deep down that even our love
Will diminish through the years
Don't tell me that I'm cynical
And don't come crawling back
A loving heart is what I have
It's bravery I lack
