Early Spring

I walk down this path with you
As I have walked with those before you
Each time it's a little more worn
But it's different in every season
This time the leaves have been shed for months
And we tread over them
And the slowly thawing earth
as the sun streams through the
vulnerable reaching branches
Myself entwined in your fingers
I wish I could reach out like the sun
and caress every pore of your skin simultaneously
Part of me is open like this cloudless sky
but the rest is closed like my eyes
as you lean in for a kiss
