Fallen Petals
The sky tears open at the seamsThe thunderheads float black overhead
Spring was once here
But now her flowers are alone and dead
Where have the petals gone?
Wind, wind, bring them back
You've spread them upon the world
And yet the world is burning black
The flowers wilt without their light
Icy rain washes the remains away
Night comes on out to claim the dead
Kicking out the light of day
What flowers are left
Plant your roots forever
And in the spring
Shall bind together
With the sunshine comes the light
And the petals are reborn
A gentle breeze returns them home
After they were lost in the storm
But with the joy they'll return
They'll grow again someday
Poking up from the mud
Where in death they lay
The world will bask in golden rays
And no longer will it be black
For the wind has restored them
Wind, wind, brought the petals back
