Falling

Singing underneath an ebony sky
The sky of all the worlds
You were like a leaf
On one of those spring evenings
You spiraled gracefully from a tree
I caught you in my quietly singing hand
And my night grew starry
And my whole world sang

Days as a child were spent fearing the thunder
I hated the rain
Until one day came, not so long ago,
When I danced with the lightning
Wet tresses of copper hair swirling
My feet kicking in the puddles
And I rejoiced
For I thought of you

Maybe you should have loosened your load
And opened like a cloud to me
Rain down upon me
The gentle droplets falling
And I shall soak them all in
I shall feel so open
I wouldn't let you fall
Because I'm always right here

The heat of midsummer
Reminds me of the sun
Under which we both have laughed and cried
Under which we now stand together in quite reminiscing
I was feeling stepped on like the Earth
And you were my Atlas
Lifting me up so that I would not fall
Into the ebony sky
